Come to Valencia  and join us for the 52nd Annual Meeting of EWOPA !

This multidisciplinary meeting is a good forum for sharing  experiences in care, education, management and research in the field of children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease and after renal transplantation, with the focus on psychosocial aspects.

We are happy to announce that the 52nd Annual Meeting is being held jointly with the  56th Annual Meeting of the ESPN in Valencia, Spain. This collaboration will create new opportunities and ideas. We thank the ESPN for hosting us.

Program

The program starts on Tuesday, 24/09/2024, at 17:10 hrs, with the opening ceremony of  the ESPN congress, followed by a welcome reception. The venue: Valencia Conference Center, Avda. Cortes Valencianas, nº 60, 46015 Valencia (Spain).

The program covers the entire Wednesday, the entire Thursday, and on Friday, it extends until approximately 16:00 hrs.

Social event: our traditional EWOPA Networking Dinner will be on Thursday night, at a nice restaurant in Valencia, at one's own expense. We cordially invite the meeting participants to join us! Don't forget to register for that (see below)!

Having previously organized joint meetings with ESPN in 2014 (Porto) and 2017 (Glasgow), we are delighted to have this opportunity again this year. The EWOPA meeting is part of a larger congress. All EWOPA participants are regular congress attendees and can also participate in events outside the EWOPA program. Conversely, we also welcome ESPN participants to attend events in our EWOPA program. 
As in Porto and Glasgow, we will once again organize a 90-minute joint symposium EWOPA-ESPN in Valencia. There will be three presentations during this symposium:

Lore Willem & Elke De Bruyne: 
The psychological impact of CKD on parents: a theoretical overview and examples from daily clinical practice

Dirk Bethe: Update on adherence – understanding the challenge, supporting the patient

Jerome Harambat: Disparities in access to transplantation and transplantation outcome

As always, we aim to have a highly interactive program with ample opportunities for questions and discussions. We will allocate sufficient time during presentations for this purpose. We look forward to your abstracts! All formats are welcome: scientific reports, practical reports, best-practice examples, novel methods or interventions, discussions of clinical cases, etc.

Furthermore, we would like to set up a "marketplace": We invite all participants to bring medical informational material for children and adolescents. This material will be displayed, allowing us to learn from each other and see what materials other centers use. Perhaps there will also be opportunities for certain materials to be translated into one's own language?

All presentations can only be delivered in person.

Registration

For attending the EWOPA meeting we kindly ask you to make a "double  registration":

1) Register at the ESPN congress website congressespn.org.  Early Bird registration deadline: 1 July 2024.
    This ESPN registration includes attendance to the ESPN sessions as well as to the EWOPA sessions.

2) Inform us once you registered at the ESPN congress website, please fill in our planning form. 
    For planning reasons we would like to know who is planning to attend the EWOPA sessions.  
     On Thursday evening, 26/09/24, we will organize the traditional EWOPA Networking Dinner at the restaurant La Marítima, 
        situated at the seaside. We cordially invite you to join us! 
     We would be pleased if you ticked “yes, I want to attend the dinner” in the planning form.
